Expectations and Routines
School Expectations
As a school, we strive to SOAR every day in all areas of the school building. Students are held to the following standards no matter where they travel!
S – Show Self Control
O – Offer Peer Support
A – Actively Listen and Learn
R – Respect People and Property
Additional Expectations
I value our students’ ideas in creating class expectations. We will spend some time the first week coming up with expectations specific to our classroom to help us communicate and grow together in safe environment!
Behavior System
As a school, we promote a PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) system. Our class will be working to earn Eagle Wings in the hallway, cafeteria, and specials. Once we reach certain goals, we will be rewarded with incentives such as extra recess, lunch in the classroom, and celebrations. As a class, students’ behavior will be individually rewarded for outstanding behavior with tickets to the school store based on a level up system. When students’ behavior needs redirected, they will receive a warning “yellow card” and an opportunity to move back up to green. After two occurrences, parent contact will be made to address the situation. Please pay attention to the weekly behavior reports in Monday Folders as they will include comments on outstanding behaviors as well as behaviors we may be still working on!
Monday Folders
Each Monday, I will send home folders containing student work, important information, and school wide forms and newsletters. Please be sure to check the folder each Monday and remove the appropriate papers. Please be sure to look at all of the forms and send back the items that I ask to be returned. These folders will keep you informed on activities and meetings that are going on in the school. Please feel free to include notes and messages on these to keep me informed!
Daily Folders
Daily folders will come home with homework, papers that need immediate attention, and behavior reports on Friday. The behavior reports are a simple way for me to communicate how your child is doing in class.
Snacks
Students should bring in a healthy snack to enjoy each afternoon. I am asking that the snack is a Snack Size item (please, no Family Size bags of chips!) and is nutritious to keep their minds going for the day! Because nutrition is important to help your child grow and learn, I ask that the snack be healthy, such as, fruit or vegetables, crackers, chips, pretzels, granola bars, or anything else you deem healthy in your house! I will not allow them to eat sweets as a snack so please only include those in their lunches! Also, if you are able to provide snacks for the class for students who forget or unable to provide themselves a snack, please send them in with your child! These are greatly appreciated!
